Befriend a Child Celebrates the Incredible Impact of Volunteers During Volunteers’ Week

This Volunteers’ Week, Befriend a Child is proudly celebrating the remarkable individuals who give their time, energy and compassion to support children and young people across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Every day, Befriend a Child volunteers help create brighter futures for local children and young people who are living in difficult life situations. Whether through 1:1 befriending and mentoring, supporting at youth club or group activities, lending a hand at fundraising events or as part of our Board of Trustees, volunteers play an essential role in making a positive difference to children, young people and families in our local communities.

Sarah Misra, CEO of Befriend a Child, said:

“Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at Befriend a Child. Their kindness, dedication and willingness to give their time makes a real and lasting difference to the lives of children and young people across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. During Volunteers’ Week, we are delighted to celebrate every single one of our volunteers and thank them for the incredible impact they make.”

Over the past 12 months, an incredible 208 volunteers have generously given their time and energy to support Befriend a Child, producing positive experiences and opportunities for 280 children and young people. Across their befriending and mentoring programmes, youth clubs, group activities, board of Trustees and fundraising events, Befriend a Child’s volunteers all share one common goal – to provide children and young people with stability, encouragement and opportunities to experience more of what life has to offer.

Whether it’s a befriender spending quality 1:1 time with a child, a youth club volunteer creating fun and engaging experiences, or a fundraising volunteer helping to raise the vital funds that make their work possible, every volunteer plays an important role in changing young lives. Everyone at Befriend a Child would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of its volunteers. The difference you make is extraordinary, and the charity is deeply grateful for everything you do.

The opportunities to volunteer with Befriend a Child are truly endless. From supporting children and young people directly to helping behind the scenes at events and group activities, there are many ways to get involved, make a difference and be part of something meaningful.

By volunteering with Befriend a Child, you can help provide life-changing experiences to local children and young people while becoming part of a welcoming and supportive community.
