Support vulnerable young Scots

What is intandem?

Intandem is funded by the Scottish Government to support children and young people aged 8-14 years who are looked after at home through the provision of a regular mentoring relationship. Intandem will recruit volunteers to provide a positive, trusted and fun role model for children and young people on a 1-1 basis.

What is Befriend a Child?

Befriend a Child is a local Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire charity founded in 1975 and dedicated to supporting children and young people into confident young adults. Befriend a Child is working in partnership with intandem to give children and young people who are looked after at home opportunities to reach their full potential.

How can a Mentor help a young person

By simply offering consistency and reliability. Mentoring primarily provides a young person with someone who will listen. All our mentors are volunteers so are there for no other reason than they care. The mentor relationship is built on trust and mutual respect. Once this has been established the mentor can support and encourage a young person and explore their opportunities within the community.
